Zeekr X
The Zeekr X — entry-level RWD variants have a standard unnamed audio system with no premium branding. This is the most straightforward Zeekr to upgrade and the improvement is immediately obvious. AWD and Convenience Package variants have Yamaha 13-speaker audio — a better starting point, and a different upgrade conversation. All three systems are available across all X variants.
Zeekr 7X
The Zeekr 7X — RWD and RWD Long Range variants come with ZEEKR Sound, a 10-speaker system. Better than the base X but still limited by factory amplification. The DSP upgrade is the strongest improvement available here. AWD Performance models have the 21-speaker ZEEKR Sound Pro — a more complex system that we treat as a consultation job. Zeekr 009

System One works with your factory speakers and adds the two things every entry-level Zeekr is missing — proper bass and amplification. A compact subwoofer hidden under a seat fills the low-frequency range the factory system simply can't produce. A high-fidelity tweeter upgrade lifts the sound to ear level, adding width and the upper frequency detail that factory units compromise. Sound deadening in the front doors reduces road noise and acoustic loss — in a quiet EV cabin, the improvement is immediately and obviously noticeable. The factory head unit, CarPlay, and all factory controls remain fully functional. Nothing visible changes.

System Two adds a multichannel DSP amplifier — the single most significant upgrade available for any Zeekr, and the one that makes the factory hardware perform the way it should have from the start. The DSP connects to the factory signal chain and processes it independently for every speaker in the vehicle. Timing, phase, and equalisation are corrected channel by channel — giving us control the factory system was never designed to allow. For ZEEKR Sound-equipped 7X models, this is where the 10-speaker hardware finally gets proper amplification and independent control. The system is calibrated using professional, specialist software. Once set, the factory interface remains unchanged. Wired remote controls are available for bass adjustment.

The complete build. Front component speakers replace the factory drivers with units selected for the Zeekr's cabin size and the owner's listening preferences. Rear speakers are upgraded and independently controlled. What audio system does my Zeekr have?
The entry-level Zeekr X RWD has a standard unnamed audio system — the most basic configuration in the range and the most straightforward to upgrade. The 7X RWD variants have ZEEKR Sound, a 10-speaker system that sounds better than basic but is still limited by factory amplification. Both respond very well to a DSP upgrade. Upper-spec models with ZEEKR Sound Pro or Yamaha surround systems are a different conversation — contact us.
Can you upgrade the audio in any Zeekr?
Yes — all current Zeekr models sold in New Zealand are upgradeable. The Zeekr X, 7X, and 009 all have clear upgrade paths. Entry and mid-spec variants follow the standard three-system approach. My Zeekr 7X has the ZEEKR Sound system — is it worth upgrading?
Yes — and this is one of the most compelling upgrade cases for any Zeekr. The ZEEKR Sound hardware in the 7X RWD variants is capable of significantly better performance than the factory amplification allows. A multichannel DSP gives each speaker independent timing, phase, and EQ correction — transforming what the existing hardware actually sounds like.
How much does a Zeekr audio upgrade cost in New Zealand?

Does the upgrade affect the factory head unit or interface?
No. The Zeekr's integrated head unit stays in place. The DSP amplifier connects to the factory signal chain and operates independently — CarPlay, Android Auto, and all factory controls remain fully functional. The factory interface is unchanged.
Where does the subwoofer go in a Zeekr?
Compact and hidden — typically under a rear seat or underfloor depending on the model. In the X and 7X, both positions are clean installs with no impact on boot space. The 009 has specific placement considerations given its MPV configuration — we'll discuss the best approach at consultation.
Will the upgrade affect my Zeekr's warranty?
In most cases, no. All installations are fully reversible — no permanent modifications, everything can be returned to factory condition. We recommend confirming with your Zeekr dealer if you're within the warranty period.
How long does a Zeekr audio upgrade take?
System One is typically a one-day installation. System Two usually takes one to two days. System Three with full calibration by ear is generally two days. The 009 and upper-spec models with more complex audio configurations may require additional time — we'll confirm when we discuss your specific vehicle.
